FCD staff conducted a site visit to see first-hand the important conservation work being conducted by the Maya Leaders Alliance/Julian Cho Society and Toledo Alcaldes Association in Maya communities. During the joint visit, four communities were visited, including San Vicente, Pueblo Viejo, Na Luum Ca, and San Jose. Community leaders expressed their environmental challenges faced in safeguarding their resources in and around their communities. In San Vicente a 4-acre plot of land being reforested for riverine protection was visited. The two day site visit coincided with an assessment of the efforts conducted by MLA/JCS/TAA which are supported by the US Department of the Interior and USFWS through FCD.
