FCD celebrated its 23rd Annual General Meeting on the 4th of December at San Ignacio Resort Hotel. This symbolized a return to a norm in terms of venue and participation of FCD members at the end of the year. Over 75 participants made it to the event, including the Minister responsible for protected areas, Honourable Orlando Habet. The event was also aired on zoom.

Guest speaker, High Commissioner of Belize to the United Kingdom, Mrs. Therese Rath explained how she had gotten engaged with FCD and related her experience being part of the Nohoch Chen sinkhole expedition. She encouraged the FCD staff to continue the conservation effort and highlighted the importance of the work particularly at a time when climate change is creating a havoc across the globe.

The FCD Programs Director, Esther Sanchez, gave an overview of the FCD Program accomplishments while Ms. Diana Garcia presented the financial report as well as the 2022-2023 budget. Awards were given to staff Justin Pook, Richard Harris and Simon Lotiff for their exemplary work. Second Lt. Choc and FCD champions, H.C Therese Rath, San Ignacio Hotel Resort, Cayo Cargo and Dr. Edward Boles were also awarded for their support in meeting the conservation goals. Then was the time to select two new board members, who were endorsed by FCD members as Mrs. Susana Vanzie and Mr. Mark Wilkins.
