Chiquibul Is Getting More Park Rangers

The Board of Directors, staff and all the park rangers of the Friends for Conservation and Development are sincerely grateful at the incredible outpouring of support by the Belizean people from all across the country and those friends and supporters abroad who have given to the Chiquibul Protection Telethon in support of the Park Ranger Program.

The Park Ranger Program has accrued a total of BZ$327,870.00 as per the following breakdown:

The winners of the raffle to visit the Chiquibul were won by Mr. Hector Silva, Mr. Livanio Funes and Ms. Vannesa Bowman. Congratulations! FCD will be contacting the winners. Rafael Manzanero, Executive Director of FCD says, “We are extremely grateful to everyone who participated at the telethon and contributed or pledged and who volunteered to help make this appeal a success. We are humbled at the level of participation from the child who gave and way up to the Government of Belize. We are now actively in the process of hiring the additional park rangers and will be reporting back to the public on the progress of this.” A special thank you to all the media houses who unconditionally carried the telethon live throughout the day and provided the informative stories of past years on the Chiquibul Forest. It was an unprecedented show of support for the Chiquibul Forest and FCD is truly appreciative. Mr. Manzanero added, “The efforts to conserve, protect and maintain the integrity of Chiquibul continues but it does so now with a renewed vision of optimism and enthusiasm thanks to the people and friends of Belize.” All pledges will be followed up on directly by FCD authorized personnel only (Rafael Manzanero, Luceli Itza or Valerie Woods).
